As a family-owned and operated garden center and plant farm:

• We aspire to meet every need of the 21st Century outdoor or indoor gardener with old-fashioned customer service as we were taught to do by our founders the late Mary Kathryn and Charles Stanley.

• We employ timeless methods, along with proven innovations, to produce the finest quality heirloom plants, hybrids, and cultivars, while conserving our region’s natural beauty and wildlife.

• We grow and propagate 60-70 percent of the plant material we sell on-site. Since we are which reduces our carbon footprint significantly and allows our customers to buy plants, trees, and shrubs tax-free.

• We support individual and community efforts to make Knoxville, and our surrounding area, more green, healthy, sustainable, and beautiful.

• The greenhouse grows and stocks vegetables and herbs that are free of pesticides, making them a healthy choice for our customers who seek to confidently grow more of their own food.

WHAT WE GROW AND STOCK
On our family farm in South Knoxville, we grow perennials, vegetables, herbs, and roses, as well as an array of seasonal annuals such as poinsettias for the holiday season and three-season bloomers such as pansies, violas, and panolas—a cross between pansies and violas that combines the strength of both. We also stock trees, shrubs, foliage plants, succulents, cacti, orchids, air plants, houseplants, and supplement are house-grown plants with perennials, herbs, and shrubs from the finest, local East Tennessee growers. We stock specialty trees (including Christmas trees and evergreens) and plants from regional and national sources. Stanley’s stocks the finest soils, compost, soil amendments, fertilizers, gardening tools, and gardening basics of every description. The greenhouse also sources garden statuary, home and garden decor, wind chimes, water features, fountains, birdhouses, and unique gift items crafted by local artists. As much as possible, we stock local, regional, and made-in-America products to support our country’s artisans and small business owners.

Stanley’s adjusts its hours according to the needs of its customers for each growing season as follows:

Typical Fall Growing Season Hours (October - November) - highlighting chrysanthemums, pansies, trees, shrubs, seeds, and bulbs

Saturday - 9 to 5
Sunday - 1 -5
Closed Thanksgiving Day each year

Typical Holiday Season Hours (December) - focusing on house-grown poinsettias in a wide array of specialty colors and varieties and a perfect time to plant dogwood trees in East Tennessee

Monday through Friday - 8 to 5:30
Saturday - 9 to 5
Sunday - 1 to 5
Closed Christmas Day and December 26 each year

Typical Winter Hours (January - March) - focusing on houseplants, succulents, forced bulbs, early spring vegetables and herbs

Closed New Year’s Day each year

Typical Spring Hours (April - June) - highlighting roses, perennials, hydrangeas, summer-season annuals, trees, shrubs, and seeds

These hours are subject to change according to the circumstances of each season. In the transition between seasons, Stanley’s Greenhouse’s hours will be adjusted according to the needs of our customers and staff. SPECIAL EVENTS
During a typical year, Stanley’s hosts a large schedule of educational and plant and gardening lectures, special events (such as our annual butterfly festival), and hands-on workshops (such as our fairy garden workshops). Many local nonprofit organizations host fundraisers and events at the greenhouse as well. We will continue to have periodic sales events such as our annual anniversary sale in June.

COVID ADVISORY FOR SPRING 2022 EVENTS
Due to the Covid pandemic, we ask that all customers and visitors to the greenhouse age 12 and over wear a face covering the nose and mouth when they are attending our Spring 2022 seminars and workshops. This precaution minimizes the exposure of other customers and our staff. We have masks available for our guests who do not have them.

During this time, we ask that all our customers and staff observe at least a 6-foot distance between themselves and other customers and staff.
